The following are answers
to some of the questions we are asked most often by our
patients. If you need more information about any of the
topics below or have questions about anything else, please
do not hesitate to ask.
I believe that teeth can be restored with better alternatives to silver/mercury. Mercury filling’s safety to your health has been questioned. The metal is reactive to temperature changes and expands and contracts when exposed to hot or cold. This movement cracks and breaks teeth and lets harmful bacteria get underneath the filling. I rarely replace a metal filling without finding decay beneath it.
I believe that the bite can be the cause of a variety of health problems. If your bite is out of "alignment," a disorder called malocclusion, myriad problems can result, including TMJ, migraine headaches, back pain and more. Simply restoring your bite to its proper position can eliminate years of pain.
I believe my patients deserve the best dentistry available.
There are healthier, stronger, more attractive options for your dental care and you have the right to the care that's best for you! (Unfortunately, insurance companies disagree). I believe that patients deserve to be treated just as I would expect to be treated. . . not only with the same procedures, materials and technologies, but also with the same professionalism, compassion and attention to comfort.
I believe in conservative care.
The more conservative the treatment, the better. What do I mean by conservative? Using advanced technology to detect problems early and resolve them while they are small. Preserving healthy, natural tooth structure. And more.
I believe in restoring teeth with porcelain or resin.
From fillings to veneers, I only use porcelain or resin in my dental restorations. Safe, enduring and attractive, they are the materials I prefer to use because resins and porcelain are inert, non-reactive and much more attractive. Plus, my patients prefer them for their smile!
I believe in treating my patients as I would treat my family.
I treat my patients as family, offering them the quality care I would expect to receive.
Yes, I have strong beliefs. But they are beliefs founded in experience, education and expertise.
I realize that this may be unlike any dentistry you've ever before experienced. But it's dentistry as it should be. It's the care you deserve. I look forward to making it available to you. . . enhancing your smile and maybe even changing your life!
How
does the doctor keep up-to-date on all of the current
techniques and materials?
Dr. Shandrick subscribes
to the latest industry journals to keep up-to-date on research
and development in the dental industry. He also takes time
on a regular basis for continuing education and ensures
that his staff does the same. At Shandrick Dental Care
Studios, we make it our responsibility to be familiar with
the latest techniques and materials available.
Can
you show me what my smile can look like ahead of time
with imaging software?
We routinely use dental
imaging to help our patients visualize the end results
of cosmetic and restorative work. By simply asking the
right questions, taking digital photos of your current
smile, and keying in the correct input into the computer,
we will generate a graphic image to demonstrate accurately
how your procedure will affect your smile.
We are happy to accept referrals
from other dental offices as well as from recommendations
by our patients to their family and friends. Your referrals
are our best compliments!
What
makes you different than any other dental practice I
can visit?
Virtually every aspect of
our practice defines us as truly exceptional. From your
initial phone contact with us to the moment you depart,
you will experience the kind of VIP treatment, combined
with our dedication to excellence, that "sets us apart
from the crowd." Every detail is fashioned with your comfort
and treatment in mind. In short, at Shandrick Dental Care
Studios, everything we do, we do for you: our valued Dental
Guest.
The new ZOOM II andvanced power system, is now available at Shandrick Dental Care, which can dramatically whiten years of discoloration in most cases, in about 1 hour!
Crowns,
veneers, onlays, inlays and partials.where can I learn
more about these procedures?
Our web site is designed
to help you learn all you need to about the various restorative
and cosmetic techniques we offer. Please explore our Patient
Library. But if you desire even more information about a
larger variety of
topics,
visit
the American
Dental Association web site.
I
want my front teeth to look better, but I do not want
to wear braces. What would you recommend?
Dr. Shandrick has a number
of ways to improve the look of your front teeth without
the use of unsightly braces. For slightly crooked or unevenly
worn teeth, a bit of reshaping and the addition of porcelain
veneers may be sufficient to give them a bright, uniform
look. We would be happy to talk with you further about
the option that best suits your individual situation.
My gums bleed after I brush.
Is this something to be concerned about?
It is certainly not desirable to have bleeding gums following
brushing. However, the condition may or may not require attention,
depending on the source of the problem. Bleeding gums can
be caused by any of the following: improper, rough 'scrubbing' instead
of gentle, circular brushing motions; using a hard-bristled
tooth brush instead of a soft one; plaque and/or tartar build-up
below the gum line; or gum sensitivity due to gingivitis
or periodontal disease. If this problem persists despite
correct brushing and flossing methods or occurs every time
you brush, contact our office to set up an evaluation appointment.
A Smile Analysis helps us
determine the proper aesthetics of your new smile based
on your facial symmetry, lip line, and other features.
Each person has a unique "perfect" smile that is proportional
and flattering to their face. We take digital photos of
both your smile and face and then talk about what your
concerns are, what you would like to change, and what your
goals are.
Smile Design
is the process of designing your new smile. For more extensive
cosmetic procedures, we send physical models of your teeth
to the lab so they can make a wax mock-up of your new smile.
You can then "try on" your new smile before we begin any
cosmetic work. Once you are satisfied with your new appearance,
we will create a customized treatment plan that best meets
that goal.
